  1. Hey Guys,

Love the tutorial, but i recently purchased the 10.6.3 upgrade disc so i an finally install SL on my PC, and it kept bothering me that i couldn’t install onto an MBR disc, looking around on your tutorial, it says this mod is automatically applied to the USB, and i saw that this issue was fixed in the bug fix 1.0 RC3, yet it happened to me using 1.1 (just double checked, it was 1.1). If you need me to verify anything, more than welcome to contact me.

    • Jason: v 1.0 RC3 only fixed the OSInstall mod for 10.6.0 retail DVD. v1.1 is the first to actually support the 10.6.3 DVD. I have had a half dozen experienced users test it and provide me with detailed feedback using a retail 10.6.3 DVD and they successfully made an MBR install with it.

So I’m not sure what to tell you – perhaps try a GUID partition scheme to see if the drive is even detected at all… Or start over fresh, something may have gone wrong during the execution of the installer – if you could provide the log of the installer running on a freshly restored copy of the 10.6.3 DVD to the USB (just press cmd+L during the installation phase of the installer, then show all messages, copy the entire contents and paste them to and then link me to that pastebin here) I could see if perhaps anything else went wrong. Also if you could do an MD5 hash of the OSInstall files after installation it could help me to determine if the mod was correctly applied or not.

  2. …urm……any advice for idiots that have installed the installer to their local (macbook) hard drive!????

    I know…..I’m an idiot.

is there a way i can turn my msi wind u123 from 10.5.4 which i have, to 10.6 or 10.7? and could i download the files here in india? i am traveling and my computer crashed. i saved all the data. but all i have is this 10.5
i bought this msi in sept fully loaded with snow leopard and everything worked wifi, blue tooth, my vga was better than the 600×800 display, the speakers worked. i could sync my itunes acct and moble me.

    thank you

    • David: all you have to do with the 10.6.2 update is use the vanilla kernel from 10.6.0 or a hacked kernel for 10.6.2 – apple just pulled the intel atom support from the kernel, while some (like the author of that article) may try to suggest they did this exclusively for the purposes of ‘squashing’ hackintoshers with netbooks I find this highly unlikely. There is no need to worry either way ;)

  5. Hey, thanks for your work and support!

I tried many Guides and at least, this one worked for me and my Dell Vostro 400, (Core2Quad Q6600,Intel ICH9 SATA Chipset, GeForce 8600 GTS) booting up the SL Setup. Now I´m Stuck by having no HDD´s showed up.

So can You tell me where I have to add the additional kext files to show up my HDD´s? Is it the Extra/Extensions folder on my USB Stick?

And do I have just to copy the files to the folder or is there other stuff to do to integrate those files so that Setup uses them?

Do You know a Site to find the right kext for my motherboard?

Thank´s for Your help, I´m a newbie to this scene (not computing, but to hackint0sh, hoping to get this worked!

    • ieee168: ICH9 SATA chipset should not require any additional kexts for the drives to show up unless you are using PATA(IDE) devices or have your SATA devices hooked up to a secondary chip (jmicron controller for example). I suggest you ensure that your SATA devices are on the first 2 SATA ports and that you have enabled AHCI in the bios. If AHCI is not available in your bios make sure to select the “AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext & IOATAFamily.kext” option in the myHack installer.
