I know this question is going to come up “Will myHack 1.0 FINAL work with 10.6.3″?

I have posted the answer in the software updates section of the guide.

And yes, I am running it and it is working beautifully.

    is it possible to add options to install Jmicronxesata.kext, Jmicronxsata.kext for esata to work with motherboard? Also VoodooHDA.kext 2.61?

    • Louis: If you need them it’s easy enough to install them yourself, I have included more kexts in the past but it was problematic for more users than it helped.

  2. Conti,
    I got the GeForce 8400 GS for $16 and it works wonder. Your installer works, others don’t, using your installer is painless, but not on the USB or even burnt to a CD. Just install the retail 10.6.3 onto a hard drive using it’s own OSinstall.mpkg, then install your myHack1.0.1.mpkg, add the kexts to the Extra/Extensions, copy the DSDT.asml from the older leopard version to the root of the drive. Boot the 10.6.3 drive and everything is working with QE/CI/CL on, fast and full featured system.

    The Snow Leopard 10.6.3 is great with the screen recording feature.

    Dual boot windows 7 & Snow Leopard 10.6.3 is the best system with both worlds.

  3. I have only the 10.6.3 retail disc. I have tried to follow your myhack install and it works until the pc comes to the preparing installation screen. Then it gets stuck there.

    Is this releated to the 10.6.3 retail version vs the 10.6 you say to use in your guide or is this something else?

    • Claus: The 10.6.3 “Retail DVD” requires a different OSInstall mod than the 10.6 “Retail DVD” did, thus it is currently unsupported for use with myHack installer (I will fix this soon). The 10.6 Retail DVD with a 10.6.3 combo update is fully supported.

  4. Hello all,
    After installing SL 10.6.3 using myHack1.0.1, with the same HD2600XT card
    1.vlc player only display a black screen with sound,
    2.The preview panel only shows blank page with image thumbnails (visible) on the sidebar
    3.The screenshots doesn’t work, I can hear the click but the picture doesn’t show up on the desktop or anywhere.
    4.Quicktime screen recorder fail -108.
    Please help if there are solutions.

    Everything works great with 10.5.8

    • Lois: That is because as I previously mentioned, the XT2600 Graphics Card has no graphics acceleration support in OSx86. You will have to replace it with a more well supported card – I would suggest a used 8600/9600/9800 series nvidia graphics card as a cheap solution.

  6. Hi,
    I’m totally new with MacOsx. I tried to do fresh install with snow leopard 10.6.3 retail disk. I followed your instructions and put everything on an 8GB flash drive.
    I got everything running up to “prepare to install” screen and it just sit there forever with the progress bar running.
    Is there something else I need to do to fix this?
    I got my system running with 10.5.8 very solidly.
    It’s MSI X58 Platinum motherboard and XT2600 PCIe graphic card i7 920.

    • Louis: I suspect the problem you are having relates to your XT2600 graphics card, try the Graphics Disabler option.

  7. Hey Conti, thanks for all your help so far. I hate to post this again, but i’m still having the same problem. So far I’ve managed to get the myhack bootloader to recognize and boot osx, windows 7 and ubuntu perfectly. I was having a problem with windows XP to boot under AHCI mode, and i’ve fixed that so it will now boot.

    My issue now is that while it will boot by itself when i try to boot to XP from the myhack menu it just stays at a flashing cursor. Do you have any ideas what i might have done or any way i can get it to boot to XP as well.

    • raverill: This sounds like a bad boot sector on the XP partition, I have to ask though, if you have win7 why do you want to use winXP? You could perhaps try XP mode in win7 if you need compatibility with an older app…

  8. I backed up my 10.6.3 and reinstalled 10.6.0 and patched with MYhack. I was able to upgrade to 10.6.1 then 10.6.2 and then 10.6.3 and now my video works perfectly using NV and Geforce kext files in all versions. Also I had to remove PCIRoot = 1 for it to work in any of them.
