Sorry for the delay…

I have had a series of very aggravating events take place in my personal life which has unfortunately consumed all of my time in the last two weeks. I feel that these issues are nearly resolved and I have attempted to get the project back on track and respond to the comments and questions you have all left over the last 10+ days. I am truly sorry that I have been unable to get to these sooner.

There are a number of updates I need to make to the software and website and I will make a sincere effort to push forward to achieve these goals ASAP.

I haven’t abandoned this effort! I was merely caught up in things I would much rather not have to deal with at all… To try and satisfy your curiosity I will simply sum it up as follows: several individuals are attempting to manipulate money out of myself and my family due to their own incompetency, to satisfy their own selfish and unjustified greed. What they were claiming is completely invalid and what they were trying to do was completely illegal. I am attempting to settle the matters without going to court and I seem to have made at least some progress in the last few days. After exercising considerable patience and restraint I believe I have been able to make them understand that I simply will not allow them to take advantage of my family in this way without making it very difficult, and ultimately costly for them. They seem willing to bargain now, though I doubt I will get them to back down completely, a small cost to settle things out of court would be much better than the time and stress of having to take things to the next level. So wish me luck!

Thank you for your support and understanding, I will get things back on track shortly.

  1. Hi,

    Does the dual boot guide work the same with Vista instead of W7 as I I’m have problems where I can only boot into OSX with the USB installer in or Vista without it.

    • Darren: the process is a little different with vista, you will likely have to utilize the ‘repair install’ function on windows vista DVD to get it to work, in addition to the steps referenced on my dual boot guide.

  2. Hello, I need help with a mess that I did here.
    Was on a msi wind with leopard 10.5.8 installed and completed the installation process myHack Installer 1.1. After rebooting the machine, the sitema was caught on a blue screen, and I have no idea what I can do to fix this. I’m new in the area, as you can see. ‘m Brazilian and my name is Flavio. Can you help? Thank you for your attention.

    • Flavio Ferrer: It sounds to me like something is wrong with your MBR and bootloader, or are you trying to boot 10.5.8 again with the myHack booter (that most certainly won’t work)? Could you describe the process you used to install 10.6.x and the error in more detail?

  3. Conti, you rock!

    Copying the server files (OSInstall.* and MacOSXServerInstall.*) over after running myhack worked 100%.

    Thank you!

  4. Thank you very much for your website and I wish you the best.

    I am in the process of making a computer my own (desktop) I was wondering if I could clone my macbook pro’s HDD and just plug it into my desktop running an i5? how do you think this would work with updates, etc? THANKS!

    • Abs: It is possible to take a clone of a mac hdd, apply myHack to it and boot it on a PC – but please ensure that you are not violating any of your software licensing agreements by doing so.

  5. Hello. I wanted to ask : Is there a way to download older MyHack installer? Cause i only own the 2 first edition and now last one, which isn’t good at all for me (PC takes more than a minute to boot, doing nothing… Expect waking up the DVD drive for no reason)…

    • Ddong: No I do not provide links to depreciated versions of myHack for several reasons. The problem you describe sounds like an issue with permissions and kernel caches. Try running pfix -t / from a terminal – sometimes when the caches aren’t properly tuned it can cause a delay in boot – has absolutely nothing to do with myHack or with the bootloader itself. It is hardware or OS X software related.

  6. Hello there!
    I’ve been using ur installer, working great , but lately I’ve gotten KP when installing
    10.6.4 update.
    Any suggestions?

    E7300 core2duo
    corsair 8gb
    Geforce 9500GT

    • Peder J: The sleepenabler.kext must be updated, I am going to be releasing a new version of sleepenabler.kext and myHack today to address this issue.

      I will post instructions on 10.6.4 and troubleshooting sometime today, but to quickly sum it up to get back up and running quickly boot to your usb installer, open the terminal, browse to /Volumes/Your_myHack_Volume/Extra/Extensions – remove sleepenabler.kext (rm -R -f sleepenabler.kext) – run pfix -t /Volumes/Your_myHack_Volume, and then run ‘reboot’.

      My instructions obviously assume you know your way around the terminal.

  7. Thanks for all of your hard work. Hope you get things straightened out. My system is running great because of your efforts, and I personally thank you for all of your hard work.

  8. Thank you for your great work! I’m really greatfull we can all benefit from it.

    Hope there will be a good ending to the problems which are going on :)

    All the best!

  9. Hey Conti, I am running into an error when i use the myHack Installer v.1.0.1 on a amd system. Trying to install it to a usb, once i have done the restore to usb method….

    [code] 6/13/10 10:39:12 PM installd[550] PackageKit: Install Failed: PKG: extracting “org.sojugarden.myHack.Theme.pkg”
    Error Domain=PKInstallErrorDomain Code=110 UserInfo=0x3620120 “An error occurred while extracting files from the package “default.pkg”.” Underlying Error=(Error Domain=NSPOSIXErrorDomain Code=22 UserInfo=0x361f560 “The operation couldn’t be completed. Invalid argument”) {
    NSFilePath = “/Volumes/MacOSX/.PKInstallSandbox-tmp/Root/Extra/Themes”;
    NSLocalizedDescription = “An error occurred while extracting files from the package \U201cdefault.pkg\U201d.”;
    NSURL = “./Contents/Packages/default.pkg — file://localhost/Users/four2zero/Desktop/myHack_Installer_1.0.1.mpkg/”;
    NSUnderlyingError = “Error Domain=NSPOSIXErrorDomain Code=22 UserInfo=0x361f560 \”The operation couldn\U2019t be completed. Invalid argument\””;
    PKInstallPackageIdentifier = “org.sojugarden.myHack.Theme.pkg”;

    • Four2zero: Odd, something is clearly not happy on the amd system – they can be fickle and I only use intel for my hacks so I can’t really offer you any useful advice.

  10. I’m trying this with Snow Leopard Server and using a USB external hard drive. All boots fine when trying to start the installation process after customization, I get a message stating that “the install DVD ‘is incomplete/has incomplete data’ and can’t install the essential system software.

    Is anyone else getting this and how did they resolve it? At a guess it looks like a pathing issue…

    • Wild: The installer automatically replaces the OSInstall files on an installation device, since it is not aware of the fact that this is a server version it is replacing the osinstall files with ones for the normal client version of os x. This is your issue most likely. Simply copy the files over after running myhack to restore them to the original server osinstall files and it should work.

  11. welldone welldone welldone

    Dude u did gr8 job.

    Best Regards…

  12. Good luck with all your personal stuff.

    I finally tried to install my Hackintosh but they sent me a 10.6.3 disc so I’ll just have to wait. Thanks so much for all your work!!

  13. From many points of the globe we hope you return to work here in ‘myhack’ as soon as possible.
    But of course the first thing for sure is to solve your problems. I wish you all the luck and patience.
    Thanks for everything

  14. Hi, Conti,

    I ‘m a user from Taiwan, and I’ve used your “myhack” for 1 or 2 time, it’s nice.

    And here’s my sincere wish you’ll go thru all the recent situations.

    best regards,
