myFix 1.3

This version is now deprecated, consult the myHack guide for a link to the latest version (myFix is now distributed exclusively with myHack).

This version was downloaded 20154 times.

This release adds one major new feature – a graphical front-end. This should make it simpler and easier for novice users to run, and also serves as an installer/updater to the terminal version – a feature which even advanced users will appreciate.

This feature also includes a bugfix – the i386 build worked great in Snow Leopard and Lion tests, however, it would not run on the Lion Install USB – the Lion Install USB is only capable of running x86_64 binaries. Thus I have compiled both the terminal version and the GUI as universal binaries to support both i386 and x86_64 environments.

— Download link removed due to critical error in GUI front end, see this post for more information.

Please make sure to review the release notes for myFix 1.0-1.2 for a complete explanation of features.

A complete list of the changes from myFix 1.2 are as follows:

  • -Compiled as universal i386/x86_64 binary
  • -Created graphical front-end
  • -Graphical front end will prompt to install/update terminal version if terminal version is missing/out of date
  • -Terminal version now uses new method to create line breaks for improved appearance

  1. I will, thank you !
The second half of my mail concerned question about necessity of insallation of myHack over update. I do not install it and I could update from 10.5.5 to 10.5.6, but trying to keep my system safe before upadtes, I make a mirror copy of the HD to another HD. That one – I cannot start from, obviously I d not have Chameleon loader on it … so my question was i f I have to install myHack on this mirror HD copy to get the bootloadsr …

    • @Popeto: Don’t use the old myHack for that, but the new one will provide you with an option that will install only chameleon and “Extra” which is all you need to make that bootable.

So the answer is yes, but don’t use the old version, wait a day or two :)

  2. Hi, first of all – thank you for your baby – myHack !
All we are waiting for the Lion one, please !;-)
Concerning myFix 1.3 – if the only problem of version 1.2 is the non support of 32 bits, why don’t you leave it on the site for download, at lest those of us who are not on AMD or Atom, could use this version …

And one simple question for upgrading : when we do a update from, say, 10.6.5 to 10.6.6 or higher, HAVE WE to re-install myHack over the updated HD, or it is not necessary ??
    Thank you.

    • myFix 1.3 has no problems other than the GUI – it is still available for download, just the terminal only version. myFix 1.4 will be posted soon and I am almost finished with the RC for myHack 2. Stay tuned :)
