myHack 3.1.2

This version is now deprecated, consult the myHack guide for a link to the latest version.

This version was downloaded 491849 times.

This was actually done a couple of weeks ago but I held it back from release because there are more changes planned for my 3.2 milestone and I don’t typically release minor revisions if I have anything planned. I have been so busy with other things that I’ve not been able to get everything I wanted to do with myHack done yet so I’m releasing what I have done so far. I decided to release this minor version now rather than waiting any longer because it fixes 1 bug that is fairly critical now that ML has gone to GM. The problem was caused by apple deciding to change some of their drive utilities conventions in DP4 so it was parsing the inode data instead of the path to the mount point.

The download is available on the guide page.

Changelog:

  • Bugfix: Corrected Extra/10.(6/7/8)/ merge function so that it works correctly during OS X post installation
  • Bugfix: Fixed drive selection menu under ML DP4+

Make sure to read the release page for myHack 3.0 & myHack 3.1 if you have not done so already, for a complete list of changes, contents and features.

Additional details of the myHack app’s contents, credits, and instructions are maintained on the guide page.

Feel free to post thank you comments and whatnot on this post but for support or to report a problem you encounter – please use the Forum or the #hackintosh channel on SojuGarden IRC.

  1. Hai conti.. this is great tool. i want to create myhack on to bootable cd, can you show me how to do that?! sometimes i just need myhack function to repair cache permission when my osx damage. and i dont want to create ML usb installer each time i faced an error on my system.. if i can create myhack into bootable cd, sure.. its can help me by wasting time to create usb installer. need ur guide please.. thanks alots..

    • It is possible to take a myHack installation USB and modify the image into a DVD but that method still has it’s limitations, for one you would need to modify the bootloader to function with chameleon’s cdboot file, and chameleon’s cdboot only supports booting on an optical drive that is connected to SATA in AHCI mode, much like SATA hard drives. The other issue is that dvd’s with OS X installers on them take a very long time to boot from.

You are better off just buying an extra 8GB usb stick to keep around for emergencies, that is what I do myself. The cost of an 8GB usb stick these days is far cheaper than the time you will waste attempting to use optical media.

    • Thank for quick respon, nice guide and almost reach the clue that i need. and on this plan,i don’t need mac os installation file inside it, so the goal is the user just can use myhack feature only, not for install mac os too, it’s to reduce the space. i call this plan is similar like hiren’s bootcd function on windows system (liveCd concept with useful maintenance tool ).
can you show me howto about modifying chameleon’s cdboot support, maybe you can give me a step by step guide from any website on the net please?!
and which kind of mac os system file/folder installation that i can delete to reduce hard drive space but i can still access GUI to use any tool?!

Sorry, i really noob about it, but i will learn hard to get it.. :)
